( WJET/WFXP )– The Pennsylvania Game Commission (PAGC) is reminding deer hunters across the Commonwealth about how they can help their community.

The PAGC partners with Hunters Sharing the Harvest which partners with processing plants around PA to accept donations from hunters to be processed and distributed to local food banks and community centers.

Pennsylvania sets limits, modifications to 2024-25 hunting season

Hunters Sharing the Harvest helps get donations to more than 5,000 food assistance centers in all 67 counties and has donated more than 2.5 million pounds of venison since starting out in 1991.

According to the PAGC, almost two million people struggle with hunger in Pennsylvania and one deer can provide about 200 servings of venison.

A full map of their donation centers along with more information can be found online here.
