LANSING, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Teamsters in Tompkins County are now on strike.

On Friday, Sept. 6, workers at BorgWarner’s Lansing plant voted down the company’s labor contract offer. As of midnight, roughly 760 workers had walked off the job.

We’re told the plant will continue to operate while workers are on strike. Last January, the company announced it would close one of its two facilities on Warren Road in the Town of Lansing.

“BorgWarner is working closely and collaboratively with Teamsters Local 317 on a contract agreement. We respect the law, the Union, and the rights of our employees to engage in collective bargaining,” Michelle Collins, Global Director for BorgWarner, said in a statement.

    This is a developing story.
