    NYC man arrested as fugutive from justice after alleged theft in Athens Township

    ATHENS TWP, Pa. ( WETM ) — A New York City man was arrested in Chemung County after reports he had stolen property on him from a theft in The Valley.

    According to the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office, 25-year-old Arah S. Paniagua was arrested on Sunday, Sept. 8, as a fugitive from Justice.

    One suspect dead after officer involved shooting in Pennsylvania

    Police said that Paniagua stole items from the Walmart in Athens Township and drove into Chemung County where he was found and arrested with help from the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office.

    Paniagua was arrested on the charge of stolen property in the 4th degree, a class E felony. Paniagua was processed in the Elmira Town Court before being taken to the Chemung County Jail awaiting extradition back to Pennsylvania.
