Strong Kids Safe Kids event coming up in Bath

BATH, N.Y. ( WETM ) — An annual event that helps keep children in Steuben County safe is returning to Bath.

Strong Kids Safe Kids will be at the Steuben County Fairgrounds from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21. This free event will be filled with educational activities, games, giveaways, snacks, information, and more. There are no eligibility requirements to attend; all Steuben County families are invited to this festival which promotes children’s health and safety.

Tentative activities will include a bike helmet giveaway, passport to fitness activities, a kids’ farm market, a climbing wall, and inflatables. In addition to enjoying the other activities, kids can participate in the Hands on a Truck event. Kids will get to check out ambulances, fire trucks, tractors, and more. In between all the fun, parents will get to connect with more than 25 agencies and businesses that cater to children and learn more about the resources they provide.

Families can come to the fairgrounds early to make sure they have the right car seats for their children. The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, the New York State Police Department, the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, and Healthy Families-Steuben are hosting a car seat check event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the fairgrounds near the main gate on East Washington Street during Strong Kids Safe Kids.

This is Steuben County’s 14th year holding Strong Kids Safe Kids, and around 2,000 people attend each year.
