ADDISON, N.Y. ( WETM ) – Addison Central School District is hosting an anti-bullying presentation at the high school on Tuesday.

Parents, students, and community members are invited to the Addison Middle-High School auditorium on Tuesday, Sept. 17, to hear a message of kindness and compassion from representatives of the non-profit organization, Rachel’s Challenge .

$2.3M invested in local programs through United Way of the Southern Tier

The presentation will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and is free to attend. Refreshments will be offered before the presentation begins, from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Rachel’s Challenge is a program based on the diaries of Rachel Scott, the first student killed at Columbine High School in April of 1999. The audio/video presentation includes the story of Rachel’s life and a message to motivate listeners to make positive changes in how they treat others.

The program also offers a year-long curriculum called the “Friends of Rachel” club, which works to carry out the positive change sparked by the presentation and encourages students to continue a chain reaction of kindness and compassion.

The program is geared toward students in seventh grade or higher, but younger kids are welcome to join with the understanding that they will need to participate in discussions and answer questions afterward.
