ELMIRA, N.Y. ( WETM ) — One woman was injured after a crash involving a scooter and a vehicle in Elmira on Monday afternoon.

According to an 18 News Reporter at the scene, a small SUV struck a woman riding an electric scooter at the intersection of North Main Street and West Second Street shortly before 1 p.m. on Sept. 16. The force of the crash caused the scooter to tip over, injuring the woman’s leg.

First responders put the woman’s leg in a splint before putting her on a stretcher. She was taken away from the scene in an ambulance.

The SUV’s driver stayed at the crash scene and appeared to be cooperating with police.

Part of the North Main Street and West Second Street intersection was closed while first responders cleared the roadway. Traffic was still allowed to flow in both directions of North Main, but vehicles could not turn west onto West Second.

The Elmira Police Department, Erway Ambulance, and the Elmira Fire Department responded to the crash.
