Elmira basketball great Kiara Fisher will make her return to the Twin Tiers to join a special coaching tandem. The former First Team All-State guard will team up with her mother Cara Hope, to lead the Elmira Notre Dame girls basketball program. Kiara will serve as JV head coach, while Cara will handle varsity.

Fisher led the Express to 4-straight Section IV titles in 2020, before signing to play at Syracuse University. After 1 season with the Orange, the Elmira native transferred to Marist College, rejoining former Express teammate Zaria Shazer.

At Marist, the pair quickly developed into team leaders. Over 3 seasons, Fisher and Shazer led the Red Foxes in nearly all stat categories. In her career with the team, Fisher delivered 761 points, 247 assists, 215 rebounds, and 110 steals. In addition to the impressive numbers, the Second Team All-MAAC selection placed her name in the program’s record book in 2023. On January 19th, Fisher scored a career-high and Marist single-game record 44 points against Mount Saint Mary’s, while going 16 for 16 from the free throw line.

Fisher and the JV Crusaders begin their season on December 13th, hosting Edison at 5:30 p.m. Hope and the varsity team will start on December 7th, taking on Odessa-Montour at Elmira College’s Spiedel Gym at noon.
