    One-year-old killed after hit and run in Yates County

    BENTON, N.Y. ( WETM ) — A one-year-old child is dead and a suspect is on the loose after a hit-and-run incident in Yates County on Thursday.

    According to a release from the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, a one-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a black SUV-style vehicle driven by one person on Thursday, Sept. 19, in the Town of Benton.

    Police said the vehicle was driving on state Route 364 around 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of Carroll Road when the child was hit.

    Police are asking anyone for any information regarding the incident and for them to call the sheriff’s office at 315-536-4438, and all information will remain confidential.

    I lived on 364 for the first 16 ,yrs of my life....sen plenty of bad accidents on that highway n Lovejoy Rd....and I can't phantom the reason why a parent would let their 1 yr old on that Rd by themselves..... Mennonite or not...parents should be charged also..... just sayin.... just my opinion....
