BEAVER DAMS, N.Y. ( WETM ) — A Beaver Dams man was sentenced in September to years in state prison following a conviction on a rape charge back in February.

According to the Schuyler County District Attorney’s Office, 28-year-old Justin L. Hyde will spend the next five years in state prison followed by 10 years of probation for the crime of rape in the second degree, a class D felony. An order of protection was issued for the victim as well.

The DA’s office said Hyde was sentenced on Sept. 5 as a second felony offender.

The sentencing follows a February 2024 plea where Hyde admitted to having sex with a person under the age of 15.
