Vaccine & microchip clinic to be held in Tioga County Pa

WHITNEYVILLE, Pa. ( WETM ) – Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries is hosting its annual low-cost vaccine and microchip clinic for dogs and cats next weekend in Whitneyville.

The clinic will take place on Sunday, Oct. 6, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Tioga County Pa. Fairgrounds on 2258 Charleston Road with Dr. Kristine Shaw, DVM, of Grand Canyon Veterinary Hospital. Payment for the clinic is cash only and no appointment is needed to attend.

The clinic will offer rabies vaccines for $12, microchipping for $20 (an additional $5 fee if registered by SCAS) and distemper combination vaccines for $15. One-year vaccines will be given to all dogs and cats unless proof of previous vaccines are supplied by the owner.

Microchips will last for a pet’s entire lifetime. If the pet goes missing, it can be scanned and the chip will display a unique number that links back to the owner’s contact information. Microchips do not serve as a GPS location tracker.

All dogs must be on a leash and cats in carriers at the clinic. Owners are encouraged to bring water for their pets while they wait, as no public restrooms will be available and they will be waiting in their car. You do not need to be a Tioga County or Pennsylvania resident to participate.
