How much rain are we talking?

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETA) – A warm frontal boundary moves into the region tonight and is followed by a weak cold front on Thursday. The cold front is in association with several rounds of showers. We have at least another full day of off-and-on-rain, but nicer days after that to start the month of October.

High pressure gradually moves back in by the end of the day on Thursday and we dry out nicely for the rest of the week and the weekend. This continues into the beginning of next week. However, our rain chances are looking rather interesting by about Tuesday.

The rain from Helene is worth watching because although it is still a ways out, and it’s forecasted position takes it in an unusual direction to start – the Mid-south and the Ohio River Valley – there are a few model solutions that could bring what’s left of the rain in our general direction. There is still some question as to how much and if at all. We will monitor it.

Tonight look for cloudy skies and rain showers and a low in the low-to-mid-60s. Then Wednesday more of the same and a high in the upper-60s.
