Horseheads Small Fry Football issuing refunds for canceled season

HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WETM) – Horseheads Small Fry Football is back in the headlines Tuesday.

The league, which canceled its season early due to heated confrontations between coaches, parents and officials where police were called several times will be issuing refunds for each registered player. The registration fee of $45 will be returned during equipment drop off night this Wednesday from 4:30 until 7 PM at the Tom Wolfe Memorial Fieldhouse on Thorne Street in Horseheads.

All player divisions were canceled just three games into the year for ages 5-13. The flag football division played their final game Monday night at Thorne Street Park.

Nearly 150 kids are in the league and will not have the opportunity to finish their season in Horseheads. No Horseheads registered player is able to play at a neutral site for any Horseheads Small Fry team due to insurance reasons and purposes. Next year, the hope is that the league will be back stronger from this setback.
