Corning Pizza Hut opens after months of redevelopment

CORNING, N.Y. ( WETM ) — Anticipations can finally be quelled in Corning after the long-awaited Pizza Hut reopened in the city.

After shutting down in the summer of 2020 , Pizza Hut in Crystal City is back after nearly a year of renovations to the former location.

Unlike the location in Elmira, the Corning Pizza Hut is a full sit-down establishment with an entirely redone interior. Crews spent months working inside the building, with the famous Pizza Hut signs being put up in July.

Cars scattered the parking lot Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 25, at the restaurant located at 55 E. Pultney St. with a small ‘Now Open’ sign posted close to the roadway.

The restaurant opened in late September, around a month after scheduled plans were to have the restaurant open by the end of August .

The restaurant was victim to several setbacks during its renovation when it was first scheduled to open in early 2024 but issues with the building’s architectural plans meeting the city’s code requirements set the opening date to late summer/early fall.

The Corning Pizza Hut is not listed on Google yet but is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on the weekends.
