Addison man arrested after assault in the Steuben County Jail

STEUBEN COUNTY, N.Y. ( WETM ) – An Addison man has been arrested following an investigation into a reported assault in the Steuben County Jail.

As reported by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, Richard L. Freeland, 28, was arrested on Sept. 24, on the charge of assault in the second degree, a class D felony, after he allegedly struck another inmate and caused them injury.

The victim of the assault was treated by jail medical staff, and Freeland was sent to appear in CAP court. After appearing in court, he was then returned to the jail where he remains in custody.
