Horseheads Police serve appearance ticket to Small Fry Football president

HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WETM) – The tumultuous week for one of the area’s most storied youth football programs continues.

This past week, Horseheads Small Fry Football canceled the rest of the 2024 season citing poor behavior between coaches, officials and parents. This season created havoc for nearly 150 kids playing at Thorne Street Park in Horseheads, best known at “the pits.” Several heated confrontations occurred where local police were called to the scene in an effort to restore order throughout the season.

Wednesday, we learned that Horseheads Small Fry President Ted Pack was issued an appearance ticket for harassment in the 2nd degree amid a verbal and physical altercation with a parent at refund and equipment return night. Pack will now have to report to Horseheads Village Court on Monday, October 7th.

Horseheads Chief of Police Mike Suhey says the investigation continues as two parties were involved and a video has surfaced on social media of the altercation. WETM-TV cannot use the video at this time due to the current investigation.

“An unfortunate incident that took place at Thorne Street Park yesterday,” Suhey says. “Parents were being refunded for the registration fee and returning equipment…The matter is being investigated by the Horseheads Police Department and at this time I cannot comment further on it.”

We have also learned the previous board and regime for Horseheads Small Fry Football will not return to Thorne Street Park. No official word on if refunds will be further processed by the league. More on this story as it develops.
