    Free skin cancer screening clinic to be held at EOP Center

    ELMIRA, N.Y. ( WETM ) – A free skin cancer screening event will be held at the Economic Opportunity Center on the first week of October to help spread awareness and provide a preliminary screening to interested participants.

    The event will take place on Thursday, Oct. 3, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the EOP ACCEL Clinic through a joint effort between Arnot Health, LECOM and the Economic Opportunity Program.

    ‘Cities RISE’ Community Clean-Up event coming to South Elmira

    At the event, participants will receive focused skin exams conducted by medical students under the supervision of medical professionals. Education, blood pressure readings and lead testing will also be offered.

    Those who are interested in participating in the event should be aware that the screenings being offered are not a formal medical visit and participants will not be receiving an official diagnosis, procedure or prescription. It is the responsibility of the participant to follow up with a dermatologist or physician if any suspicious skin marks are found during their screening.

    If you’re interested in receiving a screening at the event, you must fill out a sign-up form online . The information gathered in this form will only be used to send updates as the event approaches and all information will be deleted after the event to ensure the privacy of each participant.
