ATHENS, Pa. (WETM) – Athens High School was the site of a special honor Saturday in soccer.

Longtime Athens boys soccer coach Jake Lezak was honored for his storied career as the Wildcats’ leader. Alumni and the Athens Soccer Booster Club surprised Lezak with his name on the Wall of Honor as coach from 2003-2024. This year marks the final year as head coach for Lezak at Athens.

Although the Wildcats lost to visiting Elmira 2-0, there was still so much to celebrate in their beloved head coach.

In 20 full seasons, Lezak won 11 league championships and two District IV crowns. In all, coach racked up 290 career wins to go along with five PIAA All-State Players and two Regional All-Americans.
