Fall Foliage Festival coming up in Cohocton

COHOCTON, N.Y. ( WETM ) — It’s almost time for the Cohocton community to come together to celebrate the area’s changing leaves.

Cohocton’s Fall Foliage Festival is returning to the town for its 59th year with the theme Autumn Delight. The festival will take over the Village Green (15 S. Main St.) on Saturday, Oct. 5, and Sunday, Oct. 6. Visitors can expect to find vendors, a petting zoo, a parade, horse-drawn wagon rides, fireworks, a classic car show, and more.

Both days of the festival will feature an arts, crafts, antique, and flea market along with a petting zoo from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Horse-drawn wagon rides will be available from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Each day of the festival will feature special events. Festivalgoers can catch a parade at noon and watch fireworks at 9 p.m. after JV and varsity soccer games on Saturday. Sunday will feature a classic car show from Cruize’n Time from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Cohocton Elementary School. Visitors will also be given a special challenge on Sunday.

The Cohocton Fall Foliage Pumpkin will be hidden somewhere in town on Sunday, and it’s up to festival attendees to find it. Early risers can start looking at 6 a.m., and the first person to find the pumpkin and email a picture of themself with the pumpkin to cohoctonvendors@yahoo.com will win $100. People who want to sleep in will still have the chance to win something; pumpkin hunters who submit a picture of themselves with the pumpkin by 3 p.m. will be entered for a chance to win $50.

A contest for all Town of Cohocton residents and businesses will be going on for the entire festival. The Autumn Delight Property Decorating Contest challenges people to make their home or business the most festive for fall in town while following this year’s festival theme. Those interested in participating should email or mail their name and address to cohoctonvendors@yahoo.com or Cohocton Development Corporation, PO Box 22, Atlanta NY 14808 by Wednesday, Oct. 2. Judging will take place on Saturday and Sunday. The first-place winner will get $100 and the second-place winner will get $50.

The Cohocton Fall Foliage Pumpkin challenge and the Autumn Delight Property Decorating Contest winners will be announced at the information booth on the Village Green at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Participants don’t need to be present to win.
