ALBANY TOWNSHIP, Pa. ( WETM ) — The long process of repairing an Albany Township roadway that has been closed for six years is about to begin.

Preparation work on an embankment repair on Overton Road (Route 3002) will begin on Thursday, Oct. 3. Crews will be relocating and constructing a temporary driveway, and additional work will include removing debris and trees throughout the project area. The prep work is expected to last through Friday, Oct. 18.

Road closure, detour coming up in Bradford County

According to PennDOT, Overton Road has been closed between Hatch Hill Road (Route 3004) and Front Street (Route 220) since the fall of 2018 due to flooding. Motorists have been taking an on-site detour using Hatch Hill Road and Route 220 for the past six years.

Work on the $12.4 million embankment repair project will officially start in 2025. The work will include culvert replacement, retaining wall construction, drainage improvements, resurfacing, and more. All of the repairs are expected to be completed in 2027, but the weather could push things back.
