    Ithaca boys soccer sinks Elmira in overtime

    ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – Two of the best teams in the state did battle in boys soccer Wednesday night.

    Host Elmira took 18th ranked Ithaca to the brink but the Little Red won in overtime, 4-3. Ithaca’s Balint Szegletes scored the game-winning goal just minutes into the extra session for the victory.

    Elmira’s Luca Capilli scored the go-ahead goal for the Express in the second half making it a 3-2 contest. But that would be the last of the offense for Elmira as Ithaca’s Erik Einarson tied the game 3-3 with a late second half goal sending the game in extra play.

    Elmira’s Spencer Wheeler scored the other two goals in the game for the Express. Full Wednesday night scoreboard below.
