    Elmira woman arrested on attempted murder charge

    ELMIRA, N.Y. ( WETM ) — An Elmira woman was arrested on an attempted murder charge following a reported shooting in Elmira on Tuesday evening.

    Alexiya Sutton was arrested on Oct. 8. According to the Elmira Police Department, officers responded to the 700 block of West Gray Street in Elmira at about 6:04 p.m. on Tuesday evening. The officers detained Sutton and arrested her after an investigation.

    Sutton was charged with second-degree attempted murder (a class B felony) and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon (a class C felony).

    Sutton is currently in police custody while awaiting arraignment.
