ELMIRA, N.Y. ( WETM ) — Five people were injured after a crash in Elmira on Saturday afternoon.

According to the Elmira Police Department, two vehicles crashed at the intersection of Grove Street and West Washington Avenue at about 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 12. Police say a preliminary investigation found that a vehicle traveling north on Grove didn’t stop at a stop sign and hit a vehicle that was traveling west on West Washington.

After the crash, five people were taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and the driver of the northbound vehicle was given a ticket for running the stop sign.

The Elmira Fire Department, Erway Ambulance, Rinwalske Towing, and Dave’s Towing assisted the Elmira Police Department at the scene of the crash.
