CANISTEO, N.Y. ( WETM ) — Police are asking the public for help finding two people believed to have been involved with several recent thefts in Canisteo.

The Canisteo Police Department and the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office announced on Oct. 14 that they are investigating a series of burglaries and larcenies. Police recommend that people who live in the areas of Seventh Street, South Elm Street, East Academy Street, and Greenwood Street check their garages and properties to make sure all of their belongings are accounted for.

Canisteo residents should check their cameras, Ring doorbells, and similar devices for footage of the suspects. Police are also looking for footage of what appears to be a white Mercury Mountaineer with a black trailer attached to it. Any footage that may be of the suspects and/or their vehicle should be submitted to authorities using this link .

Anyone who has information that could be helpful in locating the vehicle or suspects believed to be involved with the burglaries and larcenies is asked to contact the Canisteo Police Department by calling 607-698-4211 or emailing jgiglio@villageofcanisteo.com. Sergeant Giglio says that even information that you might not think is helpful could help the investigation.
