ELMIRA, N.Y.( WETM ) – Some parts of the Twin Tiers saw flurries earlier today. But is it normal to see snow this early?

We saw a low-pressure system move into the region on Sunday along with the rain and wind. The system came from Canada so it was already cool when it reached the area. That’s why we went from the mid-sixties on Saturday to the lower fifties by Monday.

We’ve had low temperatures fall to the thirties the past few nights. This is cold, but not too far off the normal, now thirty-nine degrees.

We only really saw flurries here in the area. So, no measurable snowfall just yet.
But our area has seen measurable snowfall this early in the past according to previous reports using data from the National Weather Service.
