Hydrant flushing to begin in Hornell

HORNELL, N.Y. ( WETM ) — The City of Hornell announced that overnight hydrant flushing will start soon.

The city will flush hydrants in the Town of Hornellsville, the Village of North Hornell, and the City of Hornell from Saturday, Oct. 19, through Friday, Oct. 25. Flushing will occur between the hours of 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.

People who live in areas where hydrants are being flushed should avoid doing laundry during flushing. Residents can still use their water but will need to check for discoloration first. People should check using cold water and run the cold tap until the water runs clear if there is any discoloration.
