Cadillac Area YMCA continues to grow
CADILLAC — The Cadillac Area YMCA reached a significant milestone in 2023 — more than 100,000 member check-ins. The YMCA, founded in Cadillac in 2002, serves members predominantly from Wexford, Missaukee and Osceola counties, but everyone is welcome. The Cadillac Y also participates in the YMCA Nationwide program, which allows the use of most other YMCA facilities across the U.S.

Muskegon man headed to prison after meth dealing conviction
CADILLAC — A Muskegon man is headed to prison after he was convicted in Wexford County circuit court of dealing methamphetamine. Tevin Antwan Ross was sentenced to at least 13 months in prison and up to 20 years with 70 days credit for a guilty plea to delivery of methamphetamine for his connection with an incident on Aug. 7 in Cadillac. As part of the plea, charges of delivery of cocaine of less than 50 grams and delivery of Fentanyl of less than 50 grams were dismissed at his recent sentencing.
Mesick man awaiting sentencing on possession of child porn conviction
CADILLAC — A Mesick man is awaiting sentencing after he accepted a plea in Wexford County’s circuit court related to child pornography-related offenses. Paul John Jester entered guilty pleas to charges of possession of child sexually abusive material and using a computer to commit a crime for his connection with incidents on or between the dates of Jan. 1, 2022, and April 29 in Wexford County. He faces up to four years and/or $10,000 in fines on the possession offense and seven years and/or $5,000 on the computer-related offense.
Nearly 70 animals seized from Wexford County home
WEXFORD COUNTY, MI -- A tip received last week helped the Wexford County Animal Control seize 68 animals from a home where they were being kept in poor conditions. According to UpNorthLive, when officers arrived at the home in Haring Township, they discovered the animals and multiple people living at the property.
Silent Observer unveils tool to help find area's 'Most Wanted'
LAKE CITY — The Cadillac Area Silent Observer has a new tool in its arsenal to help find people on its “Most Wanted” list. The silent observer program unveiled its new mobile trailer outside of the Missaukee County Sheriff’s Department in Lake City Thursday. The trailer has a 3-foot by 6-foot sign attached to it and security cameras.
Michigan's Monsoon season leads to full lakes
CADILLAC — It has been a wet couple of months and Wexford County Drain Michael Solomon has the stats to prove it. Although the recent rains have been great for boating conditions on Lakes Cadillac and Mitchell, they also have been somewhat historic. Solomon said that in the last four months, the Cadillac area has received 17.57 inches of rain, including 6.54 inches during June.
