Wexford Public Library provides year-round teen space
CADILLAC — For 12 years, Emily Thompson has been working with local teens through the Cadillac Wexford Public Library. According to a Middle School Journal article, having spaces for a community's youth creates a “safer and enhanced community, reinforce and support the cultural identities of all youth, and serve to become the vanguard of teachers’ planning, strategies, and classroom work.”
Interlochen man dies after van smashes through guardrail, lands in river
MESICK — A fatal crash closed eastbound and westbound M-115 between Hodenpyl Dam Road and M-37 in Wexford County. According to a press release from the Wexford County Sheriff’s Department, at about 3:28 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, deputies were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of W. M-115 and Simmons Street at the Manistee River in Springville Township.
M-55 resurfacing east of Cadillac starts July 8
TRAVERSE CITY – The Michigan Department of Transportation on Monday said it will begin a $3 million resurfacing project on M-55 on July 8. MDOT said it will resurface 8.1 miles of M-55 from the Cadillac city limit in Wexford County to M-66 in Missaukee County. The project will begin July 8 with a target completion date of Sept. 13. The work will require single-lane closures, with one lane of alternating traffic controlled by traffic regulators, MDOT said. The US-131 ramps will be closed while crews are working at the interchange.
