    They'll probably put it on the back burner again for the next 50 years. It was proposed in the 1960's with an estimated cost well under $1 Billion. That cost has increased to $4.5 Billion and probably will be more since the ACoE needs to purchase 120,000 acres for mitigation. The state also misjudged the size of the Sulfur River watershed. They thought it was much larger than it actually is so now know that it could take over 30 years to fill up and take a real long time to recover when drawn down during droughts.
