Sal: Yankees lack accountability, don't seem to care enough about building championship team

After another Yankee loss, one that included Alex Verdugo slowly jogging to first on a groundout, Sal began Thursday’s show by sounding off on the organization for a lack of player accountability that he believes has been going on for years.

“There is a lack of accountability throughout the organization,” Sal said. “It smacks you in the face every single night when you watch the same players go out and fail…the lack of accountability in this organization is mind-boggling.

“The Yankees just aren’t that good, and I don’t know if they really acknowledge that they’re not that good, or care enough to really get better.”

BT was keeping his focus on the players and their lack of focus and accountability, but Sal says it starts from up top, where he believes the front office and ownership haven’t done enough to show that they are truly all in on bringing a championship back to the Bronx.

“My theory is the organization,” Sal said. “They’ve seen the same stuff year after year, and continue to run it out there. They continue to make excuses…and they don’t acknowledge the reality of the situation…since June 1, which is three-plus months, you’re a game under .500.

“It’s a lack of accountability overall…they just ride it out. I don’t think the Yankees organization cares enough to build a winning team or to go to that extent to build a winning team, or a better team.”

Sal is 100% right because the Yankees rather have lazy Verdugo play instead of playing Dominguez
