Noah Syndergaard has not pitched in a major league game in more than a year, but the righty is aiming to return to MLB action in 2025, and he hopes he could make his return with the team that drafted and developed him.

Speaking as a guest on The Terry Collins Show , the former flamethrower expressed a desire to return to the Mets, where he spent the first six seasons of his big league career.

“I would love to come home to New York. Hopefully that's in store for me,” Syndergaard said. “I love the fan base, I love the city. I love the culture, the history, the passion. It's the best place to play”

Syndergaard was an All-Star in 2016, his second season with New York, and concluded his Mets tenure with a 3.32 ERA across 718 innings. Injuries hampered his career, including Tommy John surgery, and ultimately signed with the Angels after rejecting a qualifying offer from the Mets. Syndergaard’s camp said he was met with “radio silence” from New York before he signed with the Halos, and Syndergaard’s active social media presence after leaving the Mets made him a divisive figure among the fanbase.

Clearly, Syndergaard holds no ill will towards New York and would welcome a return. The odds of that would likely rely heavily upon how Syndergaard looks when he gets back on a mound this offseason. The 32-year-old plans on hosting showcases with a desire to sign a minor-league deal with an invite to spring training.
