Jasson Dominguez is being called up after weeks of fans clamoring for the top prospect to be promoted.

Multiple reporters on the Yankee beat posted on social media on Monday afternoon that Dominguez has a locker in the home clubhouse ahead of the Bombers’ series opener against the Royals in the Bronx, indicating that Dominguez has indeed been added to the big-league roster. Later, Jack Curry of the YES Network reported that Dominguez will be activated prior to Monday's game. The Yankees then confirmed the news by announcing Dominguez's promotion, and the struggling DJ LeMahieu being placed on the 10-day IL with a right hip impingement.

The switch-hitting outfielder has been tearing it up in Triple-A, and overall, is hitting .309 with an .848 OPS and seven home runs with Scranton in 2024.

Dominguez took the big leagues by storm in 2023, posting a .980 OPS with four home runs in just eight games before his season ended due to Tommy John surgery. The Yankees have been patient in calling up Dominguez after an oblique injury stunted his return from elbow surgery, calling his number for just one game so far in 2024, a hitless night against the Tigers in the Little League Classic.

Brian Cashman and the Yankees stood by their decision to keep Dominguez in the minors after rosters expanded at the beginning of the month, pointing to a desire to get the 21-year-old consistent at-bats, which the team wasn’t sure would happen in the majors. Clearly, that thought process has changed.

Alex Verdugo, the mainstay in left field this season, has been struggling badly at the plate since May, leading to many fans calling for Dominguez to be called up and replace Verdugo. Those fans seem to have gotten their wish as the Yanks look to solidify their spot atop the AL East, where they currently hold a narrow 0.5 game lead.
