Brandon Tierney still believes in Brian Daboll as a head coach, but he says if Daboll doesn’t change parts of his demeanor, his success won’t come in New York.

After video of Daboll grilling a reporter who asked about his job security went viral, BT warned that Daboll’s mannerisms coupled with the Giants losses that are likely to continue will lead to his firing.

“The Giants are going to lose a lot of games this year, and if Brian Daboll doesn’t learn how to reel it in a little bit, Brian Daboll is going to be the ex-coach of the New York Giants,” BT said.

“By no means am I saying that Brian Daboll should be fired. All I’m saying is, he’s gotta watch it.”

Daboll was questioned at length by reporters about the handling of kicker Graham Gano, who entered the game with a groin issue and left the game with a hamstring injury. Daboll’s answers are typically short, and BT believes that how Daboll responds to losses in front of the media could accelerate an eventual exit. He doesn’t believe it should happen any time soon, but if the losses and tense postgame sessions continue, it may happen sooner than expected.

“Whether we agree with the line of questioning is irrelevant at this point,” BT said. “Once a narrative begins to grow, especially here, it’s only going to get snuffed out with wins. And I don’t think the Giants are good enough to win. So the only way for this to go away…Brian Daboll has to tweak what he puts out there for public consumption. Brian Daboll can’t be staring down reporters.

“This is New York City. You are the coach of the Giants…they’re gonna come at you more…He’s going to sabotage himself, and it’s already here.”
