Joe Benigno joined Evan and Tiki for his weekly Jets reaction on Monday, and while he was decidedly less frustrated than after a blowout loss to the Niners, he still has lingering concerns on the defensive side of the ball.

“The strength of this team is the offense, it’s not the defense anymore,” Joe said. “The defense isn’t as good as it was last year, and now they lost Jermaine Johnson for the year.”

Johnson is lost for the season with a torn Achilles, and C.J. Mosley got banged up in Sunday’s win over the Titans. So, not only has the Jets defense been underwhelming through two weeks, they are not shorthanded, and Joe says that means it’s time for Joe Douglas to swallow his pride and get Haason Reddick a contract.

“You gotta get Reddick in the house now,” Joe said. “You gotta find some way to get him here...you gotta get Reddick on a contract now. You have to do it.”

On the positive side, Joe says the other side of the ball figures to be a strength all season, as Aaron Rodgers is looking like he still has plenty left in the tank to lead a group around him that is loaded with young talent.

“We got a real quarterback, we have two monsters in the backfield,” Joe said. “And this offensive line, they were a little slow in the Niner game and didn’t really run block well, but [Sunday], you saw the run blocking starting to come around.

“If this offensive line stays healthy, this is gonna be a very good offensive football team.”
