TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Some Tampa travelers feel stuck as they try to get past the travel nightmare that began Friday.
Thousands of passengers are still being impacted by the global IT outage, most of which are Delta customers.
Southwest flight heading for Tampa diverted to Fort Lauderdale after descending to 150 feet Delta Airlines canceled at least 700 flights on Monday and nearly 4,800 more over the weekend, according to an AP report .
Many travelers formed a long customer service line at Tampa International Airport because, for some of them, their jobs might depend on it.
“I had the option of choosing American Airlines or another airline provider,” Delta TPA traveler Gregory Cook said. “I didn’t but I should have.”
Cook is one of Delta’s many angry customers after his Monday flight got rescheduled to Wednesday.
Police looking for man they say hit, killed Royal Tern with electric scooter on Redington Shores Beach Delta addressed the issue on social media and has offered reimbursements for certain expenses caused as a result of the outage.
“So unfortunately they can’t reimburse me right? I have to be somewhere today actually to install some equipment, right, so money won’t solve that issue,” Cook said.
By noon on Monday, 16 of the 20 canceled flights at TPA were Delta, according to airport officials.
Maricruz Quezada, flying American Airlines, dealt with a delay on Monday but her new flight wasn’t days away like many of the Delta travelers.
“I’m mad, I’m really mad,” Quezada said. “I’m aggravated. I’m tired.”

The weather doesn’t seem to be Malachi Dunlap’s problem.
“I got work tomorrow and they canceled or changed my flight to next Monday,” Dunlap said. “Supposed to fly out today and then I’m flying out next Monday.”
Dunlap said he was never notified of the change.
After 8 On Your Side’s interview, Delta said they would update travelers about the status of their flights through their app or text message; however, their app is having complications because so many people are trying to use it.
