Florida man abandoned daughter on busy road at night, sheriff says

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida man was accused of kicking his 10-year-old daughter out of a car and leaving her on a busy roadway.

Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez said Hector Serrano, 30, abandoned the girl in Kissimmee just after midnight on Monday, according to NBC affiliate WESH .

The incident happened amid an argument with the girl’s grandparents, the sheriff said.

“Mind you, this area is about 21 minutes from grandma’s house,” Lopez said. “Wolves exist, predators exist. You know, you throw a little 10-year-old girl out in an area like that, it doesn’t matter what time of the morning or day it is, that’s a reckless, irresponsible act.”

Witnesses told deputies they saw Serrano throw the girl’s clothes and toys at her before leaving her on the side of the road. They said she was “scared, distraught, crying, confused,” according to Lopez.

“Something bad could’ve happened to the little girl. Anybody could’ve kidnapped her. She could’ve become a victim to human trafficking,” Lopez said.

Serrano was arrested and charged with child neglect.
