TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Investigators are searching for a suspect they say stabbed a woman to death in Brandon on Monday.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) said it obtained an arrest warrant for John Aylor, 37, in connection with the stabbing death of 64-year-old Julie Aylor. Authorities confirmed that the suspect is the victim’s son.

Detectives responded to calls around 4:40 a.m. to find the victim dead at the scene on Silvercrest Lane. They said it is believed to be an isolated incident.

Kristina Blair said she was Julie Aylor’s daughter.

“Why would you kill my mom?” Blair cried. “It’s like, the only thing I had.”

John Aylor is wanted for murder and other burglary charges.

“What was the thoughts going through my mom’s head as she’s fighting for her life,” Blair wondered.

Neighbors said they heard screaming around the time of the stabbing.

“She has grandbabies there,” said neighbor Kristy Parks. “They’re a great group, it’s just very sad.”

“Very friendly,” said neighbor Thomas Fette. “I just can’t believe it. It’s just horrible.”

Aylor is considered armed and dangerous, HCSO said.

“Detectives are working diligently to locate this dangerous suspect whose despicable actions claimed the life of an innocent woman,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “We are asking for the community’s help finding him and bringing him to justice. Any information that could help us in this case could be crucial in providing answers and closure for this family.”

Anyone with information about the stabbing is asked to call HCSO at (813) 247-8200.
