Drink, dine and shop inside this Gem of Tampa Bay

LITHIA, Fla. (WFLA) — Unwind from the busy city life at this gem located in Hillsborough County.

The White Oak Cottage is a locally owned home decor boutique in Lithia.

“The building’s got cool character because it actually used to be a bank,” The White Oak Cottage owner Shaunessy Dobish said.

Dobish said the building was constructed in the 80s and took our News Channel 8 team into the old vault, now full of furniture and decorations, transformed into part of the boutique.

When customers walk inside the charming cottage, they will weave through different areas of coastal, modern, farmhouse and rustic decor.

“I kind of wanted to make it a destination,” Dobish said. “It’s kind of fun to watch everybody’s reaction when they come in. They walk through several times because it just takes a while to take it in.”

The White Oak Cottage has blended together Dobish’s love for decorating, design and food.

Customers can also grab brunch, lunch or dinner from the bistro inside.

“I have like a regular farmers’ breakfast, chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, French toast, pancakes,” Dobish said. “For dinner, we have filet and lobster.”

Craft cocktails, coffee and baked goods are also available to order inside this gem.

The White Oak Cottage is open Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
