TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — More than 100 Tampa Bay Buccaneer fans wore their creamsicle colors for National Creamsicle Day as the team hosted the event at Armature Works.

“This town is going to turn orange,” said Brian Ford, chief operating officer for the Bucs. “The Skyway Bridge, Raymond James Stadium, all downtown. It’s National Creamsicle Day.”

The theme of Wednesday’s event was the 70s, in honor of the coveted throwback jerseys.

“If you don’t like the creamsicle come back, then you probably aren’t a real fan, I’m just saying,” said Matt Algeri, a Bucs Fan. “I definitely love the old school stuff, and the regular jersey, but to bring back the creamsicle, it’s just, it’s just nostalgic.”

Buccaneer legends like Dave Green and Richard Wood signed autographs for fans. Vendors were busy selling vintage and new creamsicle merchandise.

There was a quick moving line for creamsicle ice cream of course. And a roller skating rink, under the sounds of the 70s.

Tampa Mayor Jane Castor said there’s nothing like Tampa Bay.

“So we are excited about this season. We are excited about our team. We’ve got it going on here in Tampa Bay,” Castor said.

Fans said they have high expectations for the team this year.

“I’m glad we got our players back, Shawnesia Bryant said. “Excited to see the offense. Just excited in general, just ready for the season to start.”

They said this event was a great way to kick off the season.

“This is title town, Champa Bay in the fan spectrum. This is fandom. And I just want to say, on behalf of our entire organization, the Glazer family, thank you to the community for their support of sports in general,” Ford said.

The Bucs creamsicle game is Oct. 27 against the Atlanta Falcons.
