VIDEO: Tampa suspect flees officers, tries to hide in U-Haul

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A man is behind bars after trying to flee from deputies by hiding in a U-Haul truck, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) announced on Facebook .

A new video shared by HCSO shows Aviation and K9 units responding to assist deputies after Tynan Hutchinson, 24, fled a traffic stop in Tampa on Wednesday.

HCSO said Hutchinson drove recklessly on the Selmon Expressway into Tampa. He also attempted to ram a Tampa Police Department patrol vehicle while fleeing a separate traffic stop.

Aviation units tracked Hutchinson’s vehicle to a parking lot on West Gandy Boulevard where he fled from his car and climbed into the back of a U-Haul truck nearby.

“Thanks to the coordinated efforts of our Street Crimes Unit, K9 and Aviation Sections, along with the support from the Tampa Police Department, we successfully arrested this known criminal who had no consideration for the lives he put at risk when he fled from our deputies,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “This arrest highlights our deputies’ exceptional teamwork and dedication to keeping our community safe.”

HCSO said Hutchinson was quickly taken into custody without incident.
