TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The onshore wind and stalled frontal boundary draped over the Tampa Bay area will lead to widespread passing downpours along and south of I-4 throughout the day.

Showers and thunderstorms will drift from west to east with a 60% rain chance through the evening. It will still be hot and muggy with temperatures in the low 90s, outside of any showers.

Even higher rain chances are in the forecast Thursday with widespread heavy downpours possible starting along the coast before sunrise. Showers and thunderstorms will stay scattered throughout the day and temperatures will be held in the upper-80s.

A pattern change begins Friday with a wind shift out of the southeast bringing a return to more of the afternoon thunderstorm pattern. High temperatures will be back in the low 90s.

Over the weekend and into early next week, rain chances will stay elevated but most showers and thunderstorms will be in the afternoon and evening, drifting toward our coast. High temperatures will be hot, in the low to mid-90s, with feels like temperatures up to 110 each day.

The tropics continue to stay quiet, especially for late August, but forecast models continue to hint at new development toward the end of the month and early September.
