TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Governor Ron DeSantis announced a $5.8 million investment for roadways, connecting the Space Coast Regional Park and the Space Coast airport.

The governor spoke this morning alongside the Florida Department of Transportation Secretary, Jared Perdue. Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nunez also joined DeSantis in the press conference, held at Valiant Air Command, Inc. Warbird Museum in Titusville.

“It will produce jobs, it will produce revenue,” DeSantis said.

The $5.8 million will fund the 3,200-foot roadway in a three-phase development project. According to DeSantis’ office, the Space Coast Innovation Park will accommodate up to seven commercial buildings, totaling 1.4 million square feet of industrial space.

Desantis discussed the I-4 road expansions and the investments for transportation. He also touched on state income tax, investing in education, and reducing debt.

“Florida is the space capital of the country,” DeSantis said. “Titusville and the surrounding communities will benefit from these high-demand, high-wage jobs that will contribute to a stronger economy for families along the Space Coast.”

Nunez said Florida’s economy is receiving $1.1 billion for development projects, with a potential value of $4 billion.

“There’s a reason so many companies are coming to Florida,” Nunez added.

FDOT Secretary Jared Perdue said the space coast is on track for 100 launches this year, continuing the infrastructure investment to grow Florida’s economy.

Since 2019, $1.8 billion has been allotted for Florida’s economic growth.

“Under the Governor’s leadership, Florida continues to make strategic, targeted investments in aerospace and aviation sectors across our state,” Secretary of Commerce J. Alex Kelly, said. “Today’s award is a great example of how such strategic support helps those sectors get a foothold in communities that have a vision for creating a modern, high-wage, high-demand ecosystem.”
