    Sandbags available in Sarasota County due to heavy rain

    TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Sandbags are available for Sarasota County residents as heavy rains are expected in the area.

    Self-service sandbag sites are offered at the following locations:

    • Twin Lakes Park, 6700 Clark Road, Sarasota
    • Sarasota County Fleet – South, 4531 Annex Road, Venice

    The sites will be available on Thursday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

    There is a limit of 10 sandbags per vehicle.

    The City of North Port will offer sandbags beginning at 3 p.m. Thursday at George Mullen Activity Center, located at 1602 Kramer Way.

    Residents are asked to bring their own shovels to all of the above sandbag sites.

    The City of Venice has self-service sandbag stations that will be open on Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

    • City Hall, 401 W. Venice Ave.
    • Public Works, 1350 Ridgewood Ave

    Shovels will be provided. Sandbags are limited to 10 per vehicle.
