Teen shot during road rage incident along South Falkenburg Road near Brandon

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A 16-year-old was shot Tuesday night during a road rage incident along South Falkenburg Road near Brandon, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called at about 5 p.m. to the 4200 block of South Falkenburg Road after a reported shooting during road rage.

Two vehicles were driving north along South Falkenburg Road when one driver shot at the other vehicle, hitting a 16-year-old passenger, deputies said. Neither driver was injured.

The girl was taken to a hospital and is expected to be OK.

“There is simply no excuse to endanger a life because of a disagreement with another driver,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. “There is absolutely no reason for an innocent 16-year-old to be in the hospital because of a road rage incident.”

Investigators are working to learn what led up to the shooting and how many shots were fired.

Deputies said all parties are accounted for and they are being interviewed.
