    16-year-old found dead in Bradenton shooting on causeway, police investigating

    BRADENTON, Fla. (WFLA) — Bradenton police are investigating a shooting that left a 16-year-old boy dead on the Palma Sola Causeway overnight.

    Detectives believe the teenager was picked up at a location in Manatee County and brought to the causeway where the incident occurred.

    Just after 1 a.m. on Saturday, officers located the teen and shut down the causeway and the Manatee Bridge, in the area of the 8600 block of Manatee Avenue West.

    The roads were closed for several hours as police and the Manatee Homicide Task Force conducted an investigation. As of 5:40 a.m., the roads have reopened.

    “We believe this is an isolated incident and there is not a threat to our community,” the police department said.
