TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A normal summertime pattern is still in place for the holiday weekend meaning each day will start out warm, sunny and dry before temperatures heat up quickly and rain chances increase.

Rain chances are lowest on Saturday. The coverage of rain will be on the lower side compared to the past few days. However, passing showers are still possible from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday evening with rain chances at 30%.

Rain chances will increase to 50% Sunday afternoon, with evening showers and thunderstorms likely along the coast.

A similar pattern is in place on Labor Day with rain chances increasing once again to 60% for the afternoon and evening, as storms drift from east to west across the state.

Each day will be hot and muggy with highs in the low to mid-90s and feels like temperatures in the triple digits.

The highest rain chances over the next few days will come on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The tropics are beginning to wake back up with three areas being highlighted by the National Hurricane Center. One area in the northern Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Texas and Louisiana will continue to spin and bring moisture to the northern Gulf but should not impact the Tampa Bay area.

Another tropical wave that came off the coast of Africa over the past couple of days has a low chance of developing over the next five to seven days.

The area of showers and thunderstorms worth watching is in the central Atlantic moving toward the Caribbean.

The chance of developing over the next five to seven days is 50%. Most of the long-range computer models develop this and bring it west through the Caribbean, but there is uncertainty about where it will go after that. This wave will need watching heading into next weekend.
