    Last chance for this year’s disaster preparedness sales tax holiday

    ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — The state’s second disaster preparedness sales tax holiday comes to a close on Friday.

    As we approach peak hurricane season, this is your last chance to snag various disaster prep items without paying the sales tax.

    Tropical wave has ‘medium chance’ of development this week, NHC says

    Here is a list of what’s included in this sales tax holiday:

    • Batteries: Batteries and rechargeable batteries, excluding boat or automobile batteries, costing $50 or less
    • Coolers: Non-electric food storage coolers costing $60 or less
    • Fire extinguishers: Costing $70 or less
    • Generators: Costing $3,000 or less
    • Pet supplies: Pet leashes, collars, and muzzles costing $20 or less; pet beds costing $40 or less; cans of wet cat and dog food costing $10 or less; collapsible and travel-sized food or water bowls for pets, pet waste disposable bags costing $15 or less; and reusable ice
    • Portable power banks: Costing $60 or less
    • Smoke detectors: Costing $70 or less
    • Tarps: Tarps or flexible waterproof sheeting costing $100 or less
