    Tampa ranked one of the best places to retire

    TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Tampa was ranked one of the best places to retire in 2024 in a new study by WalletHub.

    The study looked at 45 key metrics across 182 cities, including cost of living, tax laws, activities, and quality of health care.

    WalletHub ranked Tampa as the fourth best city to retire, behind Orlando, Miami, and Minneapolis. Fort Lauderdale rounded out the top five.

    St. Petersburg ranked as the seventh best place to retire, according to WalletHub.

    “The best cities for retired people are those that minimize taxes and expenses, as well as have good opportunities for retirees to continue paid work for extra income, if they choose to do so,” WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo said in a statement.

    Seven of the 20 best cities to retire are located in Florida.

    12. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
    13. Wilmington, Delaware
    14. Denver, Colorado
    15. Madison, Wisconsin
    16. Charleston, South Carolina
    17. Richmond, Virginia
    18. Pembroke Pines, Florida
    19. Sioux Falls, South Dakota
    20. Cape Coral, Florida
