BARTOW, Fla. (WFLA) — A suspect rammed into three Bartow police vehicles Tuesday after a carjacking and high speed chase, according to the Bartow Police Department.

Michael D. Jackson, 33, allegedly stole a pickup truck Tuesday afternoon from the area of Conant Street and Highway 17 South, police said. The stolen truck was spotted traveling at a high speed through Bartow.

Police tried to pull Jackson over, but he wouldn’t stop, officials said. Jackson led Bartow police, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, and the Florida Highway Patrol on a chase.

The chase ended at a dead end along Barneys Pumps Place south of Polk Parkway, which is where Jackson allegedly rammed into the three police vehicles, police said.

Jackson was taken into custody on charges of carjacking; fleeing to elude officers; three counts of aggravated battery upon a law enforcement officer; resisting an officer without violence; and driving with no valid driver’s license, according to the Bartow Police Department.

There was no damage reported to anything other than the police vehicles.

After being interviewed, police said Jackson will be taken to the Polk County Jail.
