TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Five disturbances are currently being monitored by the National Hurricane Center.

A couple hundred miles east of North Carolina, a non-tropical area of low pressure is producing showers and thunderstorm conditions.

According to NHC, over the next few days, the system could develop subtropical characteristics as it remains offshore. Further development is not expected as it moves into cooler waters Saturday. There is a 20% chance of development in the next seven days.

Located in the Eastern Tropical Atlantic, an area of low pressure is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms, according to NHC. Slow development is possible for the next couple of days. There is a 20% chance of formation in the next seven days.

A tropical wave is quickly moving westward in the Northwestern Caribbean Sea and the Southwestern Gulf of Mexico, according to NHC. As the tropical wave crosses the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, some development is expected in the next few days.

There is a 30% chance of development through the next seven days.

Located several hundred miles east of Lesser Antilles in the Central Tropical Atlantic, a tropical wave is producing showers and thunderstorm activity. According to NHC, strong winds are expecting to limit development during the next few day as it moves west-northwestward.

There is a 10% chance of development within the next seven days.

The NHC highlighted a trough of low pressure near the Texas and Louisiana coasts on Thursday morning. It’s not likely to develop, but it could bring heavy rain to parts of the northern Gulf coast.
