ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — A man is on life support in the hospital after a shooting in unincorporated St. Petersburg on Wednesday.

Pinellas County deputies said Matthew Weisner, 39, of Lakeland was drinking with his girlfriend at her Pinellas Park home when they had an argument, and he started contacting her ex-boyfriends “out of jealousy.”

Weisner yelled at Michael McMann, 36, and threatened him with a firearm over the phone, according to the sheriff’s office. He told McMann he was driving to his home.

Michael McMann wasn’t home at the time, but his brother, Austin McMann, 30, was. Weisner sped up to the home in his truck, and Austin McMann walked out with a gun, telling him to leave the property.

Austin McMann told deputies he saw Weisner reach into the console of the truck and “heard a sound he felt was consistent with the racking of a gun slide and saw corresponding movement.” He fired an unknown number of shots at the truck, which he claimed was in self-defense because he “feared for his life.”

Deputies arrived to find Weisner in the truck with a gunshot wound to the head. He is on life support in the hospital and is not expected to survive his injuries.
